Job summary

GSL Education Hull Branch seeks a Design & Technology Teacher to join a secondary school in Hull. The role is temporary, full-time, term-time only, and starts as soon as possible.

The successful candidate will plan and deliver theory and practical lessons, promote safe workshop practice, assess student work, and support creativity and problem-solving in Design & Technology.

Qualifications

• QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Strong subject knowledge across Design & Technology and practical workshop skills.
• Experience teaching Design & Technology in a secondary school is desirable.
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willing to apply for one.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Design & Technology lessons combining theory with practical work.
• Develop students' understanding of design processes, materials and manufacturing techniques.
• Provide differentiated activities to support pupils of varying abilities.
• Demonstrate safe and effective use of tools and equipment.

Salary Scale: £34,068 to £52,834 per annum (MPS/UPS)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently looking for a Design & Technology Teacher to work in a secondary school in Hull. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated teacher to deliver engaging, practical lessons and help pupils develop both their technical understanding and creative abilities within a supportive learning environment.

Design & Technology Teacher Role:

The successful Design & Technology Teacher will plan and deliver practical and theory-based lessons across the appropriate secondary curriculum. You will encourage pupils to explore ideas, develop design solutions and use materials, tools and equipment safely, while maintaining high expectations for learning, behaviour and achievement.

Design & Technology Teacher Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver engaging Design & Technology lessons that combine theoretical knowledge with practical application.
• Develop pupils' understanding of design processes, materials, manufacturing techniques and problem-solving.
• Provide differentiated learning activities to support pupils with a range of abilities and learning needs.
• Demonstrate safe and effective use of tools, machinery, materials and workshop equipment.
• Assess pupils' practical and written work, providing constructive feedback to support continued progress.
• Maintain a safe, organised and purposeful classroom or workshop environment while promoting positive behaviour.

Design & Technology Teacher Requirements:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Strong subject knowledge across relevant areas of Design & Technology and practical workshop skills.
• Previous experience teaching Design & Technology within a secondary school setting is desirable.
• Confident classroom management skills with the ability to engage and motivate pupils.
• Strong awareness of workshop health and safety procedures and a commitment to maintaining safe practical learning.
• An up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years, with any employment gaps explained
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
