Job summary

GSL Education Hull Branch is seeking a Design & Technology Teacher to join a secondary school in Hull. This temporary, full-time role is term-time only, with a start date as soon as possible.

You will plan and deliver engaging D&T lessons, develop pupils' practical design skills, and maintain high standards of safety and behaviour in a busy workshop environment. Previous secondary experience and QTS are required.

Qualifications

• QTS or equivalent qualification.
• Strong subject knowledge across Design & Technology.
• Experience teaching Design & Technology in a secondary school desirable.
• Willingness to provide an Enhanced DBS or have Update Service.
• CV covering the last 10 years with any gaps explained.

Salary Scale: £34,068 to £52,834 per annum (MPS/UPS)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently looking for a Design & Technology Teacher to work in a secondary school in Hull. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated teacher to deliver engaging, practical lessons and help pupils develop both their technical understanding and creative abilities within a supportive learning environment.

Design & Technology Teacher Role:

The successful Design & Technology Teacher will plan and deliver practical and theory-based lessons across the appropriate secondary curriculum. You will encourage pupils to explore ideas, develop design solutions and use materials, tools and equipment safely, while maintaining high expectations for learning, behaviour and achievement.

Design & Technology Teacher Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver engaging Design & Technology lessons that combine theoretical knowledge with practical application.
• Develop pupils' understanding of design processes, materials, manufacturing techniques and problem-solving.
• Provide differentiated learning activities to support pupils with a range of abilities and learning needs.
• Demonstrate safe and effective use of tools, machinery, materials and workshop equipment.
• Assess pupils' practical and written work, providing constructive feedback to support continued progress.
• Maintain a safe, organised and purposeful classroom or workshop environment while promoting positive behaviour.

Design & Technology Teacher Requirements:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Strong subject knowledge across relevant areas of Design & Technology and practical workshop skills.
• Previous experience teaching Design & Technology within a secondary school setting is desirable.
• Confident classroom management skills with the ability to engage and motivate pupils.
• Strong awareness of workshop health and safety procedures and a commitment to maintaining safe practical learning.
• An up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years, with any employment gaps explained
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
