Design & Technology Teacher – Secondary School
Location: Accrington
Salary: MPS1 – UPS3
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Start Date: September 2025

Our client, a thriving coeducational secondary school in Accrington, is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Design & Technology Teacher to join their dynamic team from September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity to inspire students across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering high-quality teaching in a supportive and forward-thinking learning environment.

About the Role:
As a Design & Technology Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons across a range of specialisms, including Product Design, Resistant Materials, or Graphics. The successful candidate will foster creativity, problem-solving, and technical skills in pupils, encouraging innovation and excellence in all aspects of their learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver the Design & Technology curriculum to students in line with national standards and school policies

  • Inspire and motivate students to develop their practical and theoretical skills

  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the D&T department’s schemes of work and resources

  • Monitor, assess, and report on student progress regularly

  • Create a safe and stimulating learning environment, particularly in workshop settings

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience teaching Design & Technology at secondary level

  • Strong subject knowledge in one or more D&T disciplines (e.g., Product Design, Engineering, Graphics, or Textiles)

  • A creative and reflective approach to teaching and learning

  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills

  • A team player with strong communication and organisational abilities
