We are proud that Outwood Grange Academy is rated Good by Ofsted and we are delighted to be based in the city of Wakefield. We are a welcoming and supportive academy, with a relentless determination to provide the very best education for every child. We place students at the centre of everything we do, with a focus on creating a culture of success and a positive climate for learning.
This is a full-time temporary role linked to an existing staff member's maternity leave; therefore, this appointment will end when the employee returns to work. All specialisms will be considered; however, the ability to teach across multiple disciplines at KS3 and Catering and Textiles at KS4 would be desirable.
The Design Technology department is situated in 9 purpose-built rooms, including 3 workshops, 2 fully equipped Food Technology rooms, 2 fully equipped Textiles rooms, and 2 CAD/CAM suites. The department covers a wide range of disciplines at KS3, including Product Design, Textiles, Engineering, and Food Technology. Our aim is to support students in becoming independent, confident, creative, and resilient learners. We do this through an innovative curriculum model that fuels curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving skills. At KS4, we offer progression to courses such as Product Design, Textiles, or Hospitality and Catering. At KS5, we currently run Product Design, with plans to introduce new courses to enhance our curriculum further.
Our vision is to prioritize students to raise standards and transform lives. We innovate continuously, designing a curriculum that enables personalized learning in depth and breadth. We provide additional teaching time and resources to help students achieve good and better grades.
We value vocational, practical, creative, and academic talents equally, focusing on building transferable skills for real-world success.
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Technology teacher to contribute significantly to curriculum and departmental development. You should have the skills, determination, and a passion for your subject to help our young people reach their full potential.
