Job description

Design Support Engineer (Gas)

ESP are seeking an enthusiastic, analytical, and forward-thinking Design Support Engineer to ensure the safe adoption of gas, water, and distribution networks operating up to 11kV. The role involves ensuring ESP specifications are met, reviewing expanding network demand, and maintaining a high standard of the asset register to support ESP's continued growth.


Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with design, construction, and safety standards.
  • Liaise with customers regarding network design issues to ensure adherence to ESP policies and standards.
  • Manage applications for connections to the upstream operator's network related to ESP-managed networks.
  • Verify applications for connections made by customers for asset adoption works.
  • Handle applications from other network operators or customers for connections to ESP networks, including evaluating network reinforcement needs.
  • Manage relationships with upstream parties for capacity and demand negotiations.
  • Deliver CAD designs and drawings as required.
  • Develop safety and risk assessments during the design and adoption phases of projects.
  • Ensure compliance with ESPUG's Health and Safety Policy.
  • Ensure adherence to ESPUG's Asset Management System.
  • Participate in reviews and updates of operational procedures and technical standards.
