Job Description: Design Safety Engineer

Location: Bristol - Hybrid (minimum 3 days on site per week)

Responsibilities:

1. Influence design by understanding potential failures and their impact on system safety and reliability, ensuring standards are met.
2. Evaluate design concepts for hazards and develop mitigation strategies.
3. Assess component designs for failure modes and effects (FMECA).
4. Identify critical parts and systems through detailed risk analysis.
5. Use deterministic and probabilistic methods to analyze failures.
6. Assess risks from human/system interactions, including Human Factors.
7. Produce Safety Case reports.
8. Operate FRACAS to report and analyze failures.

Candidate Profile:

• Degree in a STEM subject with experience in a relevant engineering environment (Mechanical, Aeronautical, Electrical, Controls).
• Strong problem-solving skills with a holistic approach.
• Familiarity with gas turbine engine design, operation, and environment.
• Knowledge of Safety & Reliability engineering techniques.
