Job summary

Bimplus, a main contractor, is seeking a Design Manager to lead design coordination on Health, Education, Leisure and industrial new builds across Greater Manchester and Cheshire. Take full responsibility for design coordination, audit designs for inconsistencies, and manage design development with the team.

The role requires experience in architectural design or construction management, deep knowledge of the design and construction process, and involvement in at least one £10m+ project.

Qualifications

• Background in Architectural design or Construction management.
• In-depth knowledge of the design and construction process.
• Has been involved in at least one large (£10m+) project.
• Be a point of contact between the design team and the trade contractors.

Responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for the design coordination of large projects.
• Audit the design and identify inconsistencies, discrepancies and missing information and record, report and track the close out of these items in an Information Required Schedule format.
• Review design development regularly with the Financial Manager to ensure design and commercial aspects are aligned.
• Manage the production and approval of samples, mock ups and quality benchmarks.
• Produce and manage Open Items Schedules for each trade contractor package.
• Chair Design Team Meetings with the consultant designers and record and track information from DTMs.
• Coordinate the integration of the building services with the architectural and structural elements of the project.
• Identify potential quality issues and latent defects and to manage the design development of these with the design team to provide a suitable resolution.
• Be a point of contact between the design team and the trade contractors.
• Identify problems and offer solutions.
• Provide input into Contractors Proposals document for D&B projects.

We are working with a Main contractor who are looking for a Design Manager to work on Health/Education/Leisure/industrial new build projects across Greater Manchester and Cheshire. The company are expanding their Northwest team and are looking for someone with experience in construction design practices and procedures.

Take full responsibility for the design coordination of large projects.
Audit the design and identify inconsistencies, discrepancies and missing information and record, report and track the close out of these items in an Information Required Schedule format.
Review design development regularly with the Financial Manager to ensure design and commercial aspects are aligned.
