Job summary

RG Setsquare is seeking a Design Manager to coordinate design across health, education, leisure and industrial new-build projects in the Northwest. You will oversee design development, ensure alignment with commercial targets, and lead design team meetings with consultants and trade contractors.

The role requires extensive experience in architectural design or construction management, a track record on large schemes, and strong CAD skills.

Qualifications

• Experience coordinating design across large construction projects.
• Knowledge of design development and pre-construction processes.
• Ability to lead design team meetings and coordinate with consultants and trades.
• Experience on at least one project over £10m.
• Proficiency with CAD design tools and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for the design coordination of large projects.
• Audit the design and identify inconsistencies, discrepancies and missing information and record, report and track close out of items in an Information Required Schedule format.
• Review design development with the Financial Manager to align design with commercial aspects.
• Manage production and approval of samples, mock ups and quality benchmarks.
• Produce and manage Open Items Schedules for each trade contractor package.
• Chair Design Team Meetings with the consultant designers and record information from DTMs.
• Coordinate the integration of building services with architectural and structural elements.
• Identify quality issues and latent defects and resolve with the design team.
• Be a point of contact between the design team and the trade contractors.
• Identify problems and offer solutions.
• Provide input into Contractors Proposals for D&B projects.

Design Manager - Construction - Northwest

We are working with a Main contractor who are looking for a Design Manager to work on Health/Education/Leisure/industrial new build projects across Greater Manchester and Cheshire. The company are expanding their Northwest team and are looking for someone with experience in construction design practices and procedures.

• Take full responsibility for the design coordination of large projects.
• Audit the design and identify inconsistencies, discrepancies and missing information and record, report and track the close out of these items in an Information Required Schedule format.
• Review design development regularly with the Financial Manager to ensure design and commercial aspects are aligned.
• Manage the production and approval of samples, mock ups and quality benchmarks.
• Produce and manage Open Items Schedules for each trade contractor package.
• Chair Design Team Meetings with the consultant designers and record and track information from DTMs.
• Coordinate the integration of the building services with the architectural and structural elements of the project.
• Identify potential quality issues and latent defects and to manage the design development of these with the design team to provide a suitable resolution.
• Be a point of contact between the design team and the trade contractors.
• Identify problems and offer solutions.
• Provide input into Contractors Proposals document for D&B projects.
• Background in Architectural design or Construction management
• Industry experience. Track record of successful projects either internally or externally
• In-depth knowledge of the design and construction process
• Understands the pre-construction process. Can organise and manage the design phase of a project
