Job summary

O'Neill and Brennan seeks a Design Manager for a hybrid role based in East London/Essex with site and home working. The position is freelance/6-12 months minimum, working on education, social housing, commercial, leisure and healthcare projects.

You will be hands on and commercially minded, coordinating design across forms of construction and potentially overseeing multiple projects from value to location.

Qualifications

• UK construction qualification in Design Management, construction management or Architecture.
• Over 5 years proven Design Manager experience working directly for a main contractor.

Responsibilities

• Lead design management across multiple projects in education, social housing, commercial, leisure and healthcare.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers and clients to ensure design alignment and regulations.
• Oversee project design delivery and interface with pre-construction activities.

Position: Design Manager

Location: Hybrid role, part in East London/Essex office, site & home working

An exciting opportunity for a Design Manager to join a successful, growing contractor with a great long-standing reputation. You will work on projects in most sectors including education, social housing, commercial, leisure and healthcare.

As Design Manager

you will be hands on and commercially minded as well as knowledgeable on a variety of different forms of construction.

The projects

Future projects will cover most sectors of construction and will include refurbishments, new builds and fitout. As a Design Manager you could run up to 3 projects depending on their values and locations. An example would be to oversee a £4m extension of a school and a £6m hospital refurbishment project while also being involved on others a different stage of the construction and pre-construction process.

What you will need for this Design Manager role

A UK construction qualification in Design Management, construction management or Architecture. Over 5yrs proven experience as a Design Manager, working directly for a main contractor. You will have made the transition from working within an Architects to main contracting.
