Apple Technical Recruitment (UK) is seeking a Design Manager for a Hertfordshire project with a Main Contractor. Hybrid work 3 days in the office, 2 days flexible.

You will manage the design process from feasibility to on-site coordination for a new build valued at £10m–£15m, liaising with clients and external consultants to ensure delivery on time and to budget.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience in a design management role for a main contractor.
• Experience leading design delivery for public sector blue light facilities.
• Experience coordinating with external consultants and on-site teams.

Responsibilities

Salary: c£60,000-£75,000 basic (DOE), plus a comprehensive package including a car allowance, private healthcare, pension.

A market-leading, privately owned, Main Contractor with a secure, long-term pipeline of work across Hertfordshire and surround counties is seeking a talented Design Manager to join their team.

This role offers the opportunity to lead and support design delivery across an exciting long term blue light sector portfolio spanning Fire Stations, Police Stations, and Multi-Use Blue Light Facilities.

The Design Manager will be responsible for managing the design process from early feasibility and planning stages through to on-site coordination and delivery, taking responsibility for a new build project c£10m-£15m in value.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Driving efficient design process aligned with project timelines and commercial targets.

Acting as a liaison between the design team, client, and on-site delivery team.

While focusing primarily on early feasibility and procurement stages, the Design Manager will oversee technical compliance and design management, monitoring on-site design coordination and managing the performance of external consultants.

Ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.

Desirable Experience:

• Sector experience to include one of the following: Fire Stations, Police Stations, Multi-Use Blue Light Facilities
• A minimum of 5 years' experience in a design management role for a Main Contractor.
• Previous Roles May Include: Design Coordinator | Technical Manager | Design & Build Manager | Design Manager | Assistant Design Manager

Qualifications & Skills:

HNC or Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Structural Engineering, Architectural Technology OR comparable qualification.
