Job summary

Wates in Leeds is seeking an experienced Design Manager to oversee the design process across multiple projects in Yorkshire and the surrounding region, from pre-construction through to handover.

You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage design risks and ensure buildable information aligns with programme, cost and quality goals, while collaborating with clients, consultants and supply chain partners to drive successful outcomes.

Job description

We're looking for a Design Manager to join our team in Leeds, supporting the delivery of a diverse portfolio of construction projects across Yorkshire and the surrounding region. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role from pre-construction through to project completion, helping to ensure that design information is coordinated, compliant, buildable and aligned with programme, cost and quality objectives. You'll work closely with consultants, clients, supply chain partners and project teams, helping to drive collaboration and achieve the best possible outcomes.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll manage and coordinate the design process throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring information is produced in line with project requirements and delivery programmes. Working with multidisciplinary design teams, you'll review design information, manage design risks and support the resolution of technical challenges. You'll help ensure projects benefit from practical, efficient and innovative design solutions that support successful delivery. You'll also play an important role during pre-construction, contributing to bid submissions, design strategies and planning activities, while supporting project teams throughout construction and handover.
