Design Engineer (Remote)

This exciting opportunity requires an individual with a strong technical background and experience in producing foundation or geotechnical designs within the power T&D sector, including OHL or steel pylons and towers. The role involves occasional office presence in the Midlands and working from home.

Due to ongoing expansion and a robust project pipeline, our client seeks a Design Engineer to support design aspects across their power T&D division, covering high voltage (HV), extra high voltage (EHV), overhead line (OHL) steel lattice towers, and pylons carrying overhead power lines and cables.

The successful candidate must review enquiry documentation to identify key project considerations. They should possess high technical competence, enthusiasm, and a passion for ground engineering. Excellent communication, IT skills, and a professional approach are essential.

The Person

• Experience in designing piles and foundations using appropriate software
• Experience with diverse piling techniques and project complexities
• Ability to work independently and communicate technical matters clearly
• Results-focused, able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Effective negotiation skills with clients and teams

The Role

• Understand client requirements and liaise with designers, clients, and contractors
• Select appropriate piling and foundation techniques based on ground conditions
• Perform geotechnical analyses using relevant software and prepare reports
• Prepare settlement reports, design documents, drawings, and schedules
• Be aware of risks including H&S, geotechnical, and commercial aspects
• Support the operation team during installation and produce as-built documentation
• Build and maintain client relationships for repeat business
• Collaborate with other business units to achieve shared goals
