Job summary

18 Week Support is seeking experienced Dermatology Surgical Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) to support weekend insourcing clinics and NHS waiting list initiatives across dermatology services. You will assist clinicians and patients throughout the clinic journey in busy outpatient settings.

Responsibilities include pre-operative assessment, preparing for dermatological surgery, intra-operative assistance, specimen handling, post-operative care and patient education.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting dermatology clinics or surgical settings is preferred.
• Proficient in maintaining aseptic technique and sterile fields.
• Strong communication and patient-care skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Support pre-operative assessment and patient preparation for dermatological procedures.
• Assist during dermatological surgeries and minor procedures.
• Handle instruments and specimens according to protocol.
• Monitor patients and provide reassurance throughout procedures.
• Support with documentation and clinical governance.

We are currently seeking experienced Dermatology Surgical Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) to support weekend insourcing clinics, helping delivery NHS waiting list initiatives across a range of dermatology services. This is an excellent opportunity to join experienced teams delivering high-quality patient care within busy outpatient settings, supporting clinicians and patients throughout their clinic journey., Responsibilities include supporting with:

• Pre-operative assessment
• Preparing for dermatological surgery
• Intra-operative assistance
• + Assist the dermatologist, dermatological surgeon or other clinician during procedures such as: o Skin biopsies o Excision of skin lesions o Curettage and cautery o Punch biopsies o Minor skin cancer procedures o Mohs surgery, where applicable + Maintain aseptic technique and a safe sterile field. + Handle instruments and specimens appropriately. + Monitor the patients condition and provide reassurance throughout the procedure. + Recognise and respond promptly to complications
