Job overview

We provide high-quality, recovery-focused care within the Trust's Rehabilitation Services. Fern Ward and Copeland Ward are High Dependency Units working with service users with chronic treatment-resistant psychotic conditions and co-morbid substance use difficulties. Our focus is on helping service users develop skills for greater independence and prevent future admissions. The post holder will assist the Ward Manager in providing leadership and operational management of the unit, ensuring the delivery of quality nursing care.

Main duties of the job
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individual care in collaboration with the service user, carer (if applicable), and multidisciplinary team, using evidence-based and recovery-oriented approaches.
  • Provide clinical leadership to the staff team.
  • Ensure effective liaison with other parts of the service and external agencies to achieve treatment goals and care plans.
  • Create and maintain an evidence-based, positive unit culture.
  • Work with the Unit Manager and multidisciplinary team to establish a safe, effective, and therapeutic environment.
  • Ensure the Care Programme Approach is implemented.
  • Develop systems to communicate clinical information effectively within the team.
  • Deliver on Clinical Governance and Quality agendas.
  • Undertake and record comprehensive risk assessments and management plans in collaboration with the service user, carer, and MDT.
  • Participate in audit programs to meet standards related to key service drivers.
  • Provide and receive clinical supervision.
  • Ensure compliance with GMMH Medicines Management Policy and NMC Standards for the Administration of Medicines.

Working hours include Saturday (midnight to midnight), any weekday after 8pm and before 6am, and all hours on Sundays and public holidays (midnight to midnight).

Annual leave: 27 days plus bank holidays, increasing to 29 after 5 years and 33 after 10 years.
