Job summary

Priory Hospital Burgess Hill is seeking a Deputy Ward Manager to join our PICU ward. You will lead a compassionate nursing team, deliver high-quality, patient-centred care, and deputise for the Ward Manager as required.

An active NMC registration and post-registration clinical experience are essential, with PICU experience preferred. The role is full-time in our Priory Hospital Burgess Hill facility, with a 40.25-hour week and a salary up to £44,433 per year, dependent on experience.

Qualifications

• Active Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) within the UK.
• 18 Months–2 years post-registration experience in a clinical specialty.
• Experience in a PICU setting would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the nursing team on the ward, ensuring high quality, person-centred care and a safe, therapeutic environment.
• Coordinate shifts and deputise for the Ward Manager when required, while promoting learning and professional development.
• Supervise and mentor junior staff and student nurses, provide clinical supervision, and contribute to recruitment and retention.
• Promote equality, diversity and inclusion, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and policies.

Priory Hospital Burgess Hill has an opportunity for a Deputy Ward Manager with a active registration with the Nursing Midwifery Council to join our team on our PICU ward

Priory Hospital Burgess Hill, Goddards Green, West Sussex is an acute and psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU) service for adult males. The hospital is close to the A23, providing road access to Brighton, Gatwick and the M25. Due to the rural location of the service, access to a vehicle or the ability to drive is recommended.

As a Senior Nurse, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care while maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment. You will lead and support the nursing team, manage clinical risks, ensure compliance with relevant legislation and policies, and promote equality, diversity and inclusion. Responsibilities include coordinating shifts, acting as named or associate nurse, delivering and evaluating therapeutic interventions, supporting multidisciplinary working, and helping patients develop coping strategies. You will supervise, mentor and develop colleagues and student nurses, provide clinical supervision, support safe staffing and contribute to recruitment and retention. You will also undertake ward leadership responsibilities, deputise for the Ward Manager when required, and promote a positive culture of learning, professional development and continuous improvement.

What you'll bring to the role

Essential for the role

• Active Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Council, meeting the requirements of Revalidation
• At least 18 Months – 2 years’ experience post-registration Demonstrable expertise within a clinical speciality
