Job summary

Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal is inviting applications for a Deputy Ward Manager with an Active Nursing and Midwifery Council registration. The role is based at Cheadle Royal and involves a full-time 37.5 hour week with a salary of £40,014 per year.

You will join a compassionate team on a mixed Acute ward, taking charge as Named Nurse/Associate Nurse, supervising staff and deputising for the Ward Manager when required.

Qualifications

• Active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
• Minimum 18–24 months post-registration experience.
• Experience in an Acute setting would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Lead a compassionate ward to ensure a safe, therapeutic environment for patients and families.
• Supervise nursing staff through CPD, mandatory training, appraisal and clinical supervision.
• Deputise for the Ward Manager and lead shifts, support recruitment and retention.
• Adhere to national, company and local standards, policies and governance.

Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal has an opportunity for a Deputy Ward Manager with an Active Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Council to join our team on our mixed Acute ward.

Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal, Stockport is an inpatient mental health service for young people and adults. It is accessible by public transport, with local bus routes along Wilmslow Road and Cheadle Hulme and East Didsbury railway stations approximately 1-2 miles from the service.

What you'll be doing

Works as a Senior Nurse, ensuring a safe, therapeutic and inclusive environment for patients, families and visitors while applying relevant policies, statutory requirements and governance standards. Assesses and manages risks, maintains safe staffing and skill mix, and promotes diversity and inclusion. Supervises and develops nursing staff through CPD, mandatory training, appraisal and clinical supervision, addressing performance concerns and supporting junior staff and student nurses. Provides and evaluates therapeutic interventions for individuals with mental health and/or learning disability needs, promotes collaborative problem-solving and risk management, and contributes effectively to multidisciplinary working. Acts as Named Nurse and Associate Nurse, regularly leads shifts, undertakes agreed ward lead roles, deputises for the Ward Manager when required, and supports recruitment and retention. Adheres to all national, company and local standards, policies and procedures while promoting a culture of learning, development and continuous improvement.
