Loganair operates a comprehensive network of scheduled and charter flights around the United Kingdom and Europe. It continues to grow, and it now has around 850 members of staff, in various departments, including, Engineering, Flight Operations, Ground and Customer Services, Safety and Compliance, Commercial, Finance and Operations. We have stations throughout the United Kingdom.
We are currently recruiting for a Deputy Station Manager at Kirkwall Airport. The successful applicant will be responsible for day-to-day operations and coordination of all flights. As well as liaising and supporting the Station trainers, Passenger Services and Ramp Operations in line with Loganair processes and procedures.
The key responsibilities of the role include are but not limited to:
- Oversight of day-to-day operations and coordination of flights as per skills required, ensuring disruption is considered.
- Ensure any delays and occurrences incurred by the Company are reported to the Station Manager.
- Provide leadership, motivation and be an example to staff.
- Ensure all front of house and ramp employees are trained to the required standard and promote excellent customer service.
- Communicate with both Customers, and Loganair OCC and dissemination of information regarding arriving and departing of flights.
- Ensure all documentation files relevant to role are reviewed and compiled properly such as Dangerous Goods.
- Maintain De-Icing records in line with SAE guidelines.
- Assist in the maintenance of Company Equipment and liaise with contractors to carry out repairs and servicing.
- Help, develop and support team members and carry out appraisals in collaboration with the Station Manager.
- Maintain company policies and investigate grievance and disciplinary incidents.
- Always represent the Company in a professional manner.
- Monitor uniform standards and the use of PPE.
- Ensure the Loganair sickness monitoring procedure is being adhered to by all Kirkwall team members and action any sickness reports, work closely with the Station Manager and HR Business Partner to support and care for our team members.
- Liaise with Airline Customers, Airport Authorities and Third Parties.
- Ensure appropriate and accurate reporting of all accidents and incidents.
- Be fully conversant with all Company and Airline Ground Handling Manuals relating to role.
- Ensure all staff fully comply with Company Safety & Security Policies and Standards.
- Production and oversight of station departmental rosters, overtime control and allocation of leave to ensure overtime kept to a minimal Level.
- Ensure that all Ground station training equipment is serviceable and maintained to a high Standard.
- The planning and recording (minutes) of regular Team Meetings with local team members, the Company, and managers.
- Conducting hazard identification, producing associated risk assessments briefs, and training material for Ground services and Training Dept
- Ensuring safety and training notices are read and adhered to and where necessary submit amendments or additional observations for them for approval.
- Ensuring that all notices (GONOTS) are up to date in relation to Ground service at Kirkwall.
- The completion of specific tasks as directed by the Kirkwall Station manager or the Head of Airports.

- Ability to work at various levels within the Company to ensure it achieves and satisfies customer expectations.
Minimum Requirements
- Comfortable working with core office systems – particularly Excel.
- Airline or travel industry experience desirable.
- Experience understanding of ticketing and reservation systems desirable.
- Understanding of flight Schedule’s and airline networks.
- Working Knowledge of Airport Operations
- Experience in supervising and directing a diverse workforce, including recruitment, training, and performance management is desirable.
