Job summary

Royal Voluntary Service is seeking a Deputy Service Manager for the Berwickshire, Eildon and Teviot Areas. The role is 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with travel across the defined area and a competitive hourly rate of £13.22, equating to about £24,070 per annum full-time equivalent.

The role focuses on leading volunteer teams, coordinating client sessions for older residents, and ensuring compliance with health and safety, safeguarding and partnership working.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle with business use insurance.
• Awareness of Safeguarding principles (training provided).
• Understanding of volunteer-led organisations and how to support volunteers.
• Proficient with standard IT systems, email and Microsoft Teams.

Responsibilities

• Recruitment, development, motivation and day-to-day line management of volunteers.
• Coordinate and connect volunteers to ensure client interventions are delivered safely and effectively.
• Welcome clients and promote wellbeing with person-centred support plans.
• Manage service activities including refreshments, meals, payments and on-site health and safety.
• Ensure compliance with statutory standards, policies and safeguarding procedures.
• Build relationships with local authorities, health trusts and voluntary sector partners.
• Monitor activity and contribute to service reports.
• Carry out general admin and contribute to service reports.
