This is an exciting time to undertake this new role within the expanding Imaging Department. The department will be providing a 7-day service operating between the hours of 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. We are looking for a Band 6 Administration Manager to join our growing A&C team within the General Imaging department at St Bartholomew’s Hospital.

This is an on-site management role, and the successful candidate will lead a team of Imaging Schedulers and Reception staff, while being part of a wider multi-disciplinary team. We seek an enthusiastic individual with exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills. The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the A&C team, which will work a shift system covering the 12-hour working/scanning day.

They will support the Service Delivery Manager and General Manager with policy implementation, business planning, and service development to meet capacity and demand fluctuations. They will also ensure compliance with waiting time requirements and National RTT/DM01 targets.

The successful candidate must be a flexible team player capable of managing a varied workload to meet targets, deadlines, and conflicting priorities. They should be able to work confidentially and adhere to Information Governance procedures.

Main duties of the job

Strong computer literacy is essential, with good knowledge of Excel being advantageous. The successful candidate will input, extract, and compile complex information from various booking and patient tracking systems. Full training on RISe/PACs will be provided. A solid administrative background with good organisational skills is required. The candidate should actively demonstrate our WeCare values and behaviours.

The post holder will manage and coordinate Imaging administration services within SBH General Imaging and play a key role in coordinating the patient pathway to ensure a smooth and efficient service. They will line manage A&C staff, handling HR and personnel issues as they arise.

They will assist in implementing policies, business planning, and service development related to the administrative functions of SBH General Imaging. They will also support meeting performance targets related to quality, waiting times, and activity, contributing to the strategic objectives of SBH General Imaging Services at St Bartholomew’s Hospital.

Qualifications

  • Literate and numerate with a good education to A Level (or equivalent)

Experience

  • Extensive experience managing staff in a large, complex organisation, preferably within the NHS
  • Significant experience working within the 18-week pathway and managing performance against RTT targets
  • Experience working within set timeframes, managing changing priorities and deadlines to meet targets
  • Experience conducting staff appraisals and staff development
  • Experience working in a busy clinical environment as part of a multidisciplinary team

Knowledge

  • Comprehensive knowledge of NHS initiatives and RTT pathways
  • Solid understanding and management of patient wait lists
  • Knowledge of computerised software including MS Word, Excel, and experience with CRS/RISe/PACs

Skills

  • Excellent, clear, and concise written and verbal communication skills. Ability to listen, question, and provide clear advice
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, maintaining courtesy in stressful situations
