Assistant Service Delivery Manager

Salary: £34,520 - £43,151 per annum, depending on experience

Hours: 40 hours per week

Location: London Borough of Waltham Forest

As an Assistant Service Delivery Manager – Refuse Collections at FCC Environment, you will oversee a team of waste collection crews across the London Borough of Waltham Forest. You’ll work alongside the Service Delivery Manager to ensure efficient, compliant, and customer-focused delivery of services including Domestic Refuse, Recycling, Garden Waste, and Food Waste.

This is a full-time position, working 5 days a week.

What will you be doing?

• Managing daily operations of refuse collection services and coordinating crews, vehicles, and equipment
• Delivering safe and efficient waste collection services across the borough
• Ensuring compliance with health and safety, Road Transport Law, and contract obligations
• Handling employee relations including recruitment, appraisals, training, and performance
• Responding to complaints and liaising with the Council’s Customer Services Unit
• Supporting service improvements and working on key development projects
• Working weekends on a rota and providing emergency call-out cover when required

What are we looking for?

• Previous experience managing an operational service team
• Strong understanding of health and safety and transport compliance
• Confident in handling employee relations and customer service issues
• Proven ability to deliver services within budget and to KPIs
• Good communication, planning, and leadership skills
• Valid UK driving licence
