Thamesmead School is seeking a Deputy SENDCO to join in January 2027. You will work closely with the SENDCO to lead the SEND Department, while continuing to teach across KS3 and KS4 on a 50% timetable.

You will support identification and provision for students with SEND, coach Teaching Assistants, and liaise with external agencies to contribute to Annual Reviews and progress reporting. The role offers leadership development within safeguarding and DBS guidance.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status with secondary teaching experience.
• Experience of meeting SEND needs and EHCPs.
• Strong communication and relationship-building across the school community.
• Ambition and initiative to grow into SEND leadership.
• SEN qualification (e.g. L7 in SpLD) desirable but not essential—development support provided.

Responsabilités

• Deputise for the SENDCO and help run the SEND Department daily.
• Support identification, assessment and provision for SEND students.
• Coach Teaching Assistants and staff on inclusive practice.
• Line manage SEND TAs and foster a collaborative team ethos.
• Liaise with external agencies and attend Annual Reviews.
