Qualifications

  • Significant experience of working with pupils with SEND.
  • Strong understanding of inclusive teaching and SEND provision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organised, proactive and able to manage competing priorities.
  • Keen to develop leadership experience within SEND.

Responsibilities

  • Support the SENCO in strategic development and implementation of the school's SEND provision.
  • Help ensure that SEND policy, provision and practice meet statutory requirements and reflect pupil needs.
  • Support identification, assessment and monitoring of pupils with additional needs.
  • Work with teachers and support staff to develop inclusive classroom practice and interventions.
  • Contribute to SEND support plans and EHCP provision development and review.
  • Liaise with parents and carers, and coordinate with external professionals.
  • Coordinate and deploy teaching assistants and SEND support staff.
  • Contribute to staff training around SEND and inclusion.
  • Monitor the impact of interventions and use data to inform provision.
  • Promote high expectations, inclusion, independence and positive outcomes for pupils with SEND.
