Job summary

We are seeking a Deputy Cook to join Birmingham City Council's Cityserve catering team, supporting the Catering Supervisor in a busy school meals operation. You will prepare and cook meals for pupils, manage stock orders, uphold health and safety standards, and lead staff rotas.

Strong customer service and team skills are essential for delivering high-quality meals across our schools. The position is permanent, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term-time only with additional duties as

Qualifications

• Experience in catering for school meals is essential.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations in food service.
• Experience managing staff rotas and daily operational tasks.
• Familiarity with payroll processes is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Delivery of daily staff briefings.
• Management of all food & non-food orders via Saffron.
• Preparing and cooking meals for pupils.
• Ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.
• Managing rotas and work routines for staff.
• Weekly online payroll submissions.
• Staff training and development.
• Collaborate with school staff to deliver high-quality meals.
