Job summary

Academics is recruiting for an experienced Deputy Room Leader to join a welcoming school-based setting in West Sussex, near Haywards Heath.

This is a part-time role working three days per week, Monday to Wednesday, with start ASAP. Salary will be determined by qualifications and relevant experience, in line with the client's pay policy.

Qualifications

• CACHE Level 3 Early Years qualification (or equivalent).
• Experience as Deputy Room Leader or in a senior EY role.
• Strong knowledge of the EYFS.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare.
• DBS enhanced via Update Service or willing to apply.
• Two years of references covering employment/education.

Responsibilities

• Support the Room Leader with the day-to-day running of the room.
• Help plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities.
• Support children's learning, development and wellbeing.
• Build positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues.
• Promote a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment.
• Assist with observations, assessments and learning journeys.
• Support and guide other team members where appropriate.
• Follow safeguarding and nursery policies and procedures at all times.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Early Years professional who is looking for a part-time position working three days per week, Monday to Wednesday, and who can start as soon as possible.

The Role

• Support the Room Leader with the effective day-to-day running of the room
• Help to plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities
• Support children's learning, development and wellbeing
• Build positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues
• Promote a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment
• Assist with observations, assessments and children's learning journeys
• Support and guide other members of the team where appropriate
• Follow safeguarding and nursery policies and procedures at all times

Requirements

• CACHE Level 3 Early Years qualification (or equivalent)
• Previous experience working as a Deputy Room Leader or in a similar senior Early Years position
• Strong knowledge of the EYFS
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
• Two years of satisfactory references covering your relevant employment/education history
