Job summary

Avanti House School is seeking a dedicated Deputy Premises Manager to support a safe, well‑maintained and welcoming environment in London.

You will work with the Site Manager and Premises teams to oversee day‑to‑day maintenance, health and safety compliance, and coordination of external contractors, ensuring learning spaces are safe, efficient and fit for purpose.

Experience in facilities management and a collaborative approach are essential to support pupils and staff effectively.

Qualifications

• Experience in a facilities management role.
• Experience managing a team (caretaking and cleaning staff).
• Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks.
• Commitment to safeguarding and welfare of students.

Responsibilities

• Support the Site Manager in overseeing the day-to-day maintenance, cleanliness, safety and smooth operation of the school premises, ensuring the environment is safe and fit for learning.
• Coordinate and supervise Premises Officers, caretaking and cleaning teams and external contractors, ensuring work is completed efficiently, safely and to a high standard.
• Carry out regular inspections and daily, weekly and monthly checks, identifying maintenance, repair and improvement requirements and supporting the delivery of planned maintenance schedules.
• Support the management of maintenance budgets, contractors, health and safety compliance and digital estates systems, ensuring resources are used effectively and records are maintained accurately.
• Work closely with the Site Manager, Principal, Business Support Manager and wider school community to respond to premises-related needs, emergencies and lettings requirements.
