Job summary

Hydro International, part of CRH, invites applications for a Deputy Operations Manager role based in Long Eaton. The role oversees engineering projects and wastewater services operations across the UK, reporting to the Area Manager and guiding teams to deliver safely, efficiently and to high standards.

You will deputise for the Area Manager, plan and deliver projects, manage budgets, and drive performance while building customer relationships and ensuring HSE compliance.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or HND level, or significant relevant industry experience.
• Experience managing engineering projects from inception through to completion.
• Experience within the water, wastewater or environmental sector.
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
• Knowledge of NEC3 contracts.
• Excellent communication, customer service and organisational skills.
• Strong IT skills with experience using project planning and reporting tools.
• Willingness to travel and hold a full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Deputise for the Area Manager and oversee daily operations.
• Plan, coordinate and deliver engineering projects and repair activities.
• Drive operational performance, resource utilisation and scheduling.
• Manage project budgets, costs and profitability.
• Provide leadership, coaching and development for teams.
• Conduct site visits, surveys and estimates, while preparing quotations.
• Manage contractual obligations and provide technical guidance across projects.
• Produce project reports, programme plans and Gantt charts.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental standards.
• Build customer relationships and support business growth through a consultative approach.
