Job summary

Hydro International, part of CRH, is seeking a Deputy Operations Manager in Nottingham to lead engineering projects and wastewater services across the UK. You will work alongside the Area Manager, guiding operational performance and developing teams to deliver safe, efficient outcomes.

The role requires an engineering qualification, proven project delivery experience in water or environmental sectors, strong leadership, and commercial acumen.

Qualifications

• An engineering qualification at Degree, HND level, equivalent, or significant relevant industry experience
• Proven experience managing engineering projects from inception through to completion
• Experience within the water, wastewater or environmental sector
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities
• Knowledge of industrial mechanical installation and maintenance
• Experience delivering projects against challenging deadlines and budgets
• Understanding of NEC3 contracts
• Excellent communication, customer service and organisational skills
• Strong IT skills with experience using project planning and reporting tools
• A practical, solution-focused approach and strong commercial acumen

Responsibilities

• Supporting and deputising for the Area Manager when required
• Leading the planning, coordination and delivery of engineering projects and repair activities
• Driving operational performance, resource utilisation and effective scheduling of engineering teams
• Managing project budgets, costs and profitability to ensure commercial success
• Providing leadership, coaching and development opportunities for operational and engineering teams
• Conducting site visits, surveys and estimates, while preparing customer quotations
• Managing contractual obligations and providing technical guidance across projects
• Producing project reports, programme plans and Gantt charts to monitor delivery
• Collaborating with internal stakeholders to support continuous improvement initiatives
• Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental standards
• Building strong customer relationships and supporting business growth through a consultative approach
