Job summary

Dovetail & Slate Ltd is seeking an empathetic Deputy Manager to oversee a therapeutic 2-bed residential home for young people with Learning Disabilities. You will work with the Registered Manager to ensure safeguarding, Ofsted compliance, rotas, and high-quality care in a warm, structured environment.

This full-time role involves hands-on leadership, shift coverage, staff supervision, and contributes to professional development, including potential Level 5 Diploma support.

Qualifications

• Safeguarding and child protection are priorities in daily practice.
• Strong knowledge of Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Ofsted standards.
• Experience supervising staff, planning rotas, and managing care plans.
• Ability to deliver supervision, appraisals, and workforce planning.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts and hands-on care.
• Vetting and Enhanced DBS clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safeguarding underpins all daily practice and report concerns.
• Assist Registered Manager to meet Regulations and Standards.
• Manage staff rotas and oversee care plans and risk assessments.
• Lead from the front with hands-on duties across shifts.
• Deliver staff supervisions, appraisals, and workforce planning.
• Support Regulation 44 visits and inspections, drive improvements.
• Monitor budgets and maintain safe, clean premises.
