Job summary

Pharmacyupdate is seeking a Deputy Manager for a Therapeutic Children's Home. This role blends hands-on care with operational leadership to support two young people and guide the team.

You will share responsibility for safeguarding, care planning, staff development, and regulatory compliance while preparing for future Registered Manager duties. A Level 3 Diploma is essential and flexibility for shifts is required.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) – Essential.
• Experience as Deputy Manager or similar leadership role in children's residential care.
• Experience working with children with complex emotional/ behavioural needs.
• Knowledge of Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
• Ability to lead and develop staff teams.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and welfare of young people.
• Flexibility for long day shifts, sleep-ins, weekends, and public holidays.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Support the Registered Manager with overall operation of the home.
• Lead shifts and guide staff team to maintain high standards.
• Ensure safeguarding, care quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Assist recruitment, induction, supervision, and staff development.
• Contribute to care planning, risk management, and quality assurance.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Build positive relationships with young people, families, professionals.
• Step into Registered Manager duties during absence.
