Job summary

Olive Recruit is seeking an experienced Deputy Manager to lead care teams within high-acuity packages for individuals with complex needs. You will work in 3:1, 4:1 and 5:1 staffing models, balancing hands-on support with leadership, risk management and incident handling.

The role requires strong de-escalation, crisis management and safeguarding knowledge, with a focus on least restrictive practice and working with PBS plans. You will collaborate with clinical teams to ensure high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Significant experience within complex care settings including learning disability, autism, ABI, mental health or high‑risk behavioural services.
• Experience working in 3:1, 4:1 or 5:1 care packages in a leadership role.
• Strong experience supporting individuals with challenging behaviours and aggression.
• Strong de-escalation and crisis management skills.
• Experience with PBS plans, risk assessments and complex care plans.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support staff during shifts.
• Ensure safe staffing and effective deployment within enhanced care packages.
• Ensure care plans, PBS plans and risk assessments are followed.
• Recognise triggers and early warning signs and support de-escalation.
• Lead the team during challenging behavioural incidents, including aggression and self-injury.
• Ensure restrictive interventions are used only when necessary, proportionate and authorised.
• Monitor staff practice and address unsafe or inconsistent practice.
• Support staff supervision, development and competency.
• Complete and review handovers, care records and incident reports.
• Support safeguarding, DoLS and least restrictive practice.
• Work closely with managers, clinical teams and other professionals.
