Job summary

Sgscare is seeking a committed Deputy Manager for a 3-bed Children's Residential Home in Radstock. You will work closely with the Registered Manager to run daily operations, lead and mentor staff, ensure safeguarding and care plans are implemented, and promote trauma-informed, therapeutic practice.

The role is a permanent, full-time position on a 42-hour week with a mix of on-shift and admin work; benefits include progression opportunities, a pension, and 28 days leave.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare is essential.
  • Level 5 Leadership & Management qualification or willingness to work towards.
  • Full UK Driving Licence is required.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Registered Manager with the daily running of the home.
  • Leading and mentoring the staff team.
  • Completing supervisions, inductions and performance support.
  • Promoting therapeutic and trauma-informed practice throughout the home.
  • Supporting the development of Care Plans, Risk Assessments and Behaviour Support Plans.
  • Maintaining high standards of safeguarding, compliance and record keeping.
  • Building positive relationships with children, families and professionals.
  • Promoting staff wellbeing and reflective practice.
  • Leading by example and creating a positive team culture.

Job description

Deputy Manager – Children's Residential Home

Location: Radstock

Salary: £34,000 – £38,000 base salary (depending on experience)

Potential Take-Home: £37,640 – £41,640 per annum (including sleep-ins)

Sleep-ins: £70 per sleep

Working Hours / Shift Pattern: 42 hours per week. Mixture of on-shift working and administrative shifts.

Service: Children's Residential Home

Service Users: Children and young people with Learning Difficulties (LD) and Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD)

Qualifications Required:
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (essential)

  • Level 5 Leadership & Management qualification or willingness to work towards (supported by our client)

Experience Required:
  • Minimum of one year's experience within an Ofsted Registered Children's Residential Home, ideally at Senior Residential Support Worker level or above.

  • Good understanding of Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and safeguarding.

  • Experience of supporting children using therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches.

  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Working alongside the Registered Manager, you will help lead the day-to-day operation of the home, ensuring children receive safe, nurturing and therapeutic care while supporting and developing the staff team.
