Job summary

Sgscare is seeking a Deputy Children\'s Manager for a Residential Children\'s Home in the Stafford area. The role involves leading care practices, supervising staff, and ensuring safeguarding and regulatory compliance while working directly with children to promote positive outcomes.

The successful candidate will have a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) and be willing to complete Level 5 Leadership & Management. Sleep-ins and weekend work are required.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) with willingness/ability to complete Level 5 Leadership & Management.
  • Level 5 qualification already held is desirable.
  • Experience: 2 years in residential childcare, including at least 1 year in a supervisory/management role.

  • Oversee staff supervision, development and performance.
  • Ensure safeguarding protocols and regulatory compliance.

Job description

Job Title: Deputy Children's Manager

Location: Adbaston, Stafford, ST20

Salary: £41,036.49 – £41,651.39 per annum

Working Hours / Shift Pattern: 2:4 shift pattern with sleep-ins, including weekends

Employment Type: Full time

Sleep-ins: Required as part of the shift pattern

Service: Residential Children's Home

Service Users: Children and young people with complex needs

Qualifications Required: Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent), with a willingness and ability to complete the Level 5 Leadership & Management qualification. Level 5 already held is desirable.

Your Role

Who we are looking for

An excellent understanding of child development, trauma-informed practice and safeguarding, alongside sound knowledge of the regulations and legal frameworks governing residential care.

Proven team leadership, organisation and delegation skills, with strong written and verbal communication.

Resilience, adaptability and the ability to work under pressure, with flexibility to work shifts including weekends and sleep-ins.

Confident use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and a full UK driving licence.

A genuine commitment to ongoing professional development.

Experience of managing staff performance and leading team development is desirable.
