Job summary

Sgscare in Wigton is seeking a Deputy Manager for their Children’s Home. This permanent full-time role involves providing therapeutic care for boys aged 6–18 with emotional needs. You’ll lead and mentor staff while ensuring a nurturing environment. Required qualifications include Level 3 Residential Childcare or equivalent and prior experience in residential care. Responsibilities

• Provide therapeutic residential care for children aged 6–18.
• Support the emotional and developmental needs of service users.
• Mentor and lead staff at the facility.

Skills

Experience within an Ofsted-regulated children’s residential setting

Strong safeguarding and regulatory knowledge

Experience supervising, mentoring or leading staff

Excellent communication and listening skills

Understanding of the challenges faced by looked-after children

A willingness to learn and develop professionally

A full, clean UK driving licence

Flexibility to support other homes where required

Job description

Job Title: Deputy Manager – Children’s Home

Location: Wigton, Cumbria

Salary: Base salary of £32,349.49, with the potential to earn up to £35,606.77 per annum including sleep‑ins

Working Hours / Shift Pattern: 42 hours per week, rota basis with 2 days on / 2 days off, staggered starts (8am, 12pm or 2pm)

Employment Type: Permanent, Full Time

Sleep‑ins: Sleep‑ins required, £62.64 per sleep

Service: Children’s Residential Home

Service Users: Boys aged 6–18 with emotional and behavioural needs requiring therapeutic residential support

Qualifications Required: Level 3 Residential Childcare (or equivalent)

Experience Required: Previous experience within children’s residential care, EBD, social care, residential care or youth work. Previous leadership or Deputy Manager experience preferred.

The Home: Our client provides therapeutic residential care focused on helping children and young people build resilience, confidence, emotional stability, and practical life skills within a structured home environment.

Number of beds: 4 beds
