Job summary

Pixieland Saltash is seeking a dedicated Deputy Manager to support the Manager, lead a caring team, and uphold high childcare and education standards in a nurturing, family-like nursery. The role rewards proactive problem solving, strong communication, and an ability to create an enabling environment where children flourish.

You will develop staff, coordinate scheduling, liaise with parents and external agencies, and participate in safer recruitment with DBS checks.

• Assist the Manager and deputise in their absence.

Main Duties:

• Working under the Manager's direction and deputising in their absence
• Supporting the nursery's aims and objectives and helping in high-quality establishment management
• Ensuring high standards of childcare and education, including monitoring and provision review
• Leading and supporting staff, promoting an enabling environment for children
• Promoting the nursery’s aims and maintaining high standards at all times
• Assisting in operational management, including staffing schedules and administrative tasks
• Ensuring compliance with health and safety standards and maintaining high hygiene levels
• Supporting early identification and intervention for children with special needs
• Maintaining confidentiality of all sensitive information
• Assisting in staff development and training
• Liaising with parents, staff, and external agencies as required
• Involvement in out-of-hours activities such as training, meetings, and events
• Carrying out room and peer observations

Qualifications:

• Must hold NVQ level 3 in childcare or above
• Minimum of 2 years experience in childcare
