Job summary

SGS-Care-Ltd in Salford is seeking a Deputy Manager for a new Children's Home caring for young people aged 8–18. You will support daily routines, help create a warm, homely environment and build strong relationships to promote safety and wellbeing.

The home features 2 beds and a 40-hour week with 24-hour shifts including an overnight sleep, and there will be a full staff build before opening to referrals, offering a chance to shape the home from the start.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare and/or relevant experience
• Experience in residential childcare

Job Title:

Deputy Manager – Children's Residential

Location:

Salford, Greater Manchester

Salary:

Approx. £33,700 per annum (based 160 hours per month plus 11 sleep‑ins)

Hourly Rate:

£15.49 per hour

Working Hours / Shift Pattern:

24-hour shifts, starting and finishing at 10am (including an overnight sleep), followed by two days off. 10 or 11 shifts per month, 40 hours per week.

The Role:

As Deputy Manager, you will support young people with their daily routines, including getting ready for school, preparing for mealtimes and planning activities. You will help create a warm, homely environment, build strong and meaningful relationships, and provide emotional support. You will plan and join in with activities such as park trips, film nights, creative projects and holidays, support young people with personal hygiene sessions, bedroom upkeep and health appointments, and keep essential records to ensure the best possible care. Above all, you will be a positive role model.

The Home:

A detached, well‑decorated home with a large front and back garden and parks close by. The home is currently closed while our client recruits a full staff team before opening to referrals, giving you a unique opportunity to help shape the home from the very start. Existing team members are currently gaining experience in other homes before coming together as one team, so everyone will bring fresh learning with them.

Number of beds:

2 (dual home, with 2 staff on shift each day)
