Job summary

Staff Match is seeking a Deputy Manager for a nursery in Oxford, Oxfordshire. The role involves supporting the Nursery Manager, leading staff to deliver high-quality care and development for children aged early years.

Ideal candidates will have NVQ level 3 in Childcare and experience motivating teams, with desirable qualifications including Paediatric First Aid and Basic Food Hygiene. DBS checks are required due to safeguarding requirements.

Responsibilities

• Working closely with the Nursery Manager and providing cover for this role as required
• Leading by example to ensure staff care for children's physical, intellectual, social and emotional development
• Ensuring EYFS curriculum is implemented in daily practice
• Ensuring children are offered age-appropriate activities and staff maintain learning journals
• Manage staff supervisions, meetings and training
• Support development of good practice with regard to inclusion and SEN
• Ensure staff adhere to nursery policies and procedures
• Assist the Nursery Manager with recruitment and induction of new staff
• Participate in nursery show rounds, parents evenings and open days
• Build positive relationships with parents and interfacing groups

Some of the responsibilities of the Deputy Manager will include:

• Working closely with the Nursey Manager and providing cover for this role as required
• Leading by example and ensuring staff are caring for the all-round daily needs of the children to enhance their physical, intellectual,social and emotional development
• Ensuring staff effectively implement Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum in daily practice
• Ensuring children are offered age appropriate activities and al staff maintain their children s learning journals
• Manage staff supervisions, meetings and training
• Support the development of good practice with regard to special needs and inclusion
• Ensure that staff understand and adhere to all nursery policy and procedures
• Assist the Nursery Manager with the recruitment induction procedure of all new staff
• Partake in nursery show arounds, parents evenings, open days
• Building positive relationships with parents and key interfacing groups
