Horizon Care and Education invites applications for a Deputy Headteacher at Thornycroft SEN School in Oldham. The post leads SEN-focused education for pupils aged 5–19, with a strong emphasis on safeguarding, inclusion, and educational excellence.

You will work with the Headteacher to drive strategy, policy, and day-to-day school leadership, ensuring high standards and a nurturing environment for students and staff alike.

Horizon Care and Education have an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Headteacher for our Thornycroft SEN School based in Oldham (OL8)

Thornycroft School is a brand-new, Independent Specialist Day school providing high-quality education for up to 70 pupils.

Located in Oldham, Greater Manchester, the school will meet the diverse needs of pupils aged 5-19 with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autism.

Thornycroft School carefully preserves its local heritage, creating a calm and familiar environment that reflects its roots. Alongside this, modern facilities and thoughtfully designed spaces ensures pupils diverse needs are met in a supportive setting. This balance enables the school to provide both stability and innovation, helping every pupil feel supported and ready to thrive.

As a Deputy Headteacher you will aim to achieve the highest possible standards and outcomes for the pupils. You will be a trusted member of the senior management team. Responsible for the implementation of effective policies and procedures that support the high standards of educational. You will work to assist the Head teacher in the day to day running of the school.

• QTS or QTLS Qualification
• Have similar SLT experience in an SEN environment
• Up to date OFSTED and knowledge of the SEN education sector and desired outcomes.
• Have up to date safeguarding and child protection qualifications/knowledge and experience.

- Collaborate with the headteacher to clearly articulate, disseminate, ensure understanding of, and effectively implement the school’s vision among all stakeholders .

- Articulate and uphold high expectations by setting ambitious targets for the entire school community.
