Job summary

Horizon Care Ltd is seeking an inspirational SENCO for Thornycroft School in Oldham. The role requires leadership, collaboration with senior staff, and a commitment to high-quality teaching for pupils with SEND and SEMH needs.

You will join a brand-new independent specialist day school serving up to 70 pupils aged 5-19, with a supportive leadership team and strong emphasis on pupil wellbeing and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Must hold a SENCO qualification or be close to completing.
• Must have a QTS status.
• Make a valuable contribution to the offering that young people receive at the school as part of high-quality teaching and learning.
• Have some experience of working effectively with local authorities.
• Have a passion for ensuring all young people succeed.
• Be able to work effectively within a supportive, committed staff team.
• Have high aspirations for themselves and others, and a commitment to further development.
• Have a robust understanding of SEND Code of practice and SEMH education.

We are looking for an inspirational SENCO at our brand new Thornycroft School in Oldham

Thornycroft School is a brand-new, Independent Specialist Day school providing high-quality education for up to 70 pupils.

Located in Oldham, Greater Manchester, the school will meet the diverse needs of pupils aged 5-19 with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autism.

Thornycroft School carefully preserves its local heritage, creating a calm and familiar environment that reflects its roots. Alongside this, modern facilities and thoughtfully designed spaces ensures pupils diverse needs are met in a supportive setting. This balance enables the school to provide both stability and innovation, helping every pupil feel supported and ready to thrive.
