Job summary

The National Health Service in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced leader to join the maternity senior leadership team as Deputy Head of Perinatal Governance and Quality Improvement.

This key role supports governance, patient safety, and quality improvement across perinatal services, ensuring national standards and regulatory requirements are met while leading risk management, audits, complaints and mortality review.

Qualifications

• Registered Midwife with current registration and midwifery qualification.
• Degree in Midwifery or equivalent.
• Mentorship and leadership qualifications where applicable.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development in perinatal governance.
• Experience in quality improvement methodology and project management.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for governance, patient safety and quality improvement across perinatal services.
• Lead risk management, PSIRF, incident investigation, audits, mortality review and regulatory assurance.
• Develop and sustain governance administration and education teams; promote a positive safety culture.
• Ensure learning from incidents and reviews translates into measurable improvements.
