Job summary

Great Western Railway is recruiting a Deputy Financial Controller in Swindon to lead a four-person treasury team and strengthen cash management and financial controls. You will oversee banking relationships, cash flow and balance sheet integrity while partnering with the wider Finance function.

The role combines treasury, analysis and people leadership, with scope to drive improvements and ensure timely month-end and year-end reporting.

Qualifications

• Strong IT and systems skills, including Excel, Word and ERP systems, ideally SAP S/4HANA.
• Experience in a large, complex finance environment.
• Ability to manage balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop the team, creating a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Oversee daily cash management and liquidity to meet operational needs.
• Manage banking relationships and treasury operations, including reconciliations.
• Review and approve key reconciliations and support audits and period-end processes.
