ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

Are you a senior leader or middle leader looking for your next step in school leadership? We are seeking a qualified, experienced teacher to join as Deputy Director of Science for the secondary phase. You will join a dedicated team supporting the wider academy.

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
  • Deputise for the Director and support the creation of outstanding provision within the subject area, including programmes, systems, and structures aligned with the academy’s values and vision.
  • Be accountable for student progress in the subject area across KS3, KS4, and post-16, meeting achievement targets set by the Principal and Governing Body.
  • Ensure high standards of teaching and learning, developing and enhancing quality continuously.
  • Provide a broad, balanced, relevant, and differentiated curriculum in line with academy aims and policies.
  • Implement and ensure consistent application of school policies and procedures in the subject area.
  • Manage and deploy staff, resources, and finances effectively within the subject area.
  • Lead literacy development within subject areas to raise standards across the academy.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

You should:

  • Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree.
  • Have at least one year's teaching experience.
  • Proven success in raising achievement.
  • High ICT skills and experience in using technology to enhance achievement.
  • Experience in curriculum development and strategies for literacy and numeracy improvement.
  • Experience with Assessment for Learning and Learning to Learn strategies.
  • Be open to using coaching for professional development.
  • Ability to implement strategies to improve Teaching and Learning.
