Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking an exceptional Deputy Chief Executive to join our Corporate Management Team on a 6‑month secondment. You will provide executive leadership for whole-system delivery, shape strategic direction and oversee major transformation and performance programmes across a large and complex health board.

Qualifications

• Significant senior strategic leadership experience, ideally within NHS or public services.
• Proven track record leading large-scale transformation and performance improvement.
• Experience managing substantial budgets and large multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong governance, policy delivery, and accountability in a politically sensitive system.
• Ability to build partnerships across boundaries and influence regionally/nationally.
• Exceptional communication, leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership for whole-system delivery and performance.
• Support Executive and Board in setting strategic direction with measurable outcomes.
• Lead strategic transformation programmes including mental health and digital projects.
• Oversee governance and performance management across NHSGGC.
• Collaborate with the six Health and Social Care Partnerships and local authorities.
• Act as deputy for the Chief Executive.
