A leading company in food distribution is seeking a Depot Services Manager to ensure safe and compliant operations at their depot in Manchester. This role involves managing health and safety standards, coordinating maintenance activities, and supporting legal compliance. Ideal candidates will have strong knowledge of operational processes, health and safety regulations, and excellent communication skills.

As a Depot Services Manager, you will help ensure our depots are safe and enjoyable workplaces by managing key health and safety, food safety, and environmental processes, as well as coordinating building maintenance activities.
You will support the depot in maintaining legal compliance of facilities and processes, with assistance from depot management and the regional QHSE team. You will also serve as the first point of contact for third-party contractors on site, such as pest control, waste, and environmental contractors.
Routine checks will be conducted regularly—daily to monthly—to ensure all health and safety procedures are up-to-date, including fire safety, emergency lighting, legionella, asbestos, and cleaning schedules.
You will assist the depot in passing internal and external audits, tracking corrective actions, and ensuring all employees complete necessary training via the e-learning system.
To succeed, you should have a good understanding of operational processes and standards, and how these are practically applied. Knowledge of Health and Safety, Environmental Management, and Food Standards is essential. You must communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels within the depot, including senior management, and external professionals. A positive attitude, independence, and initiative to identify solutions for non-compliance are also important.
