Job summary

Biffa Group is seeking an Operations Supervisor to manage depot operations at our Manchester Depot. The role focuses on safe, efficient and compliant service delivery, with a Monday–Friday 37.5-hour shift.

You will oversee daily tasks, monitor safety practices, and ensure regulatory compliance while supporting productivity and budget alignment. Essential LGV licence and strong communication skills are required to lead inductions, safety training, and toolbox talks, building trust across the

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Safe Systems of Work, operational procedures and Health & Safety requirements.
• Clear written and spoken communication at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily/weekly/monthly tasks to meet KPIs and contract requirements.
• Monitor safe working practices through vehicle CCTV, tracking systems, and on-route crew observations.
• Ensure compliance with Operator’s Licence, drivers’ hours regulations, and Working Time Directive.
• Lead inductions, safety training, and site checks.
• Assist Supervisors in driving vehicle and crew efficiencies while monitoring performance and competency.
• Support management in ensuring operational productivity, resource planning and budget alignment.
