Job summary

Phoenix Futures is seeking a Dependency and Recovery Worker to provide psychosocial support to people open to Essex Probation with complex needs. You will assess and intervene to ensure engagement with treatment and support, liaising with Probation Practitioners and delivering 1-1 sessions in the Probation office across Essex.

Qualifications

  • Relevant experience in problematic substance and alcohol use with interventions and treatment.
  • Evidence of effective partnership working and networking for client benefit.
  • Experience managing a busy caseload with strong organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook and Word; familiarity with database management systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexibility and ability to travel throughout the County of Essex.
  • Experience in a criminal justice setting is desirable.
  • Experience creating person-centred care plans and timetables based on identified needs is desirable.

Job description

Other organisations may call this role Recovery Worker or Substance Use, Alcohol Recovery Worker, Criminal Justice Worker or Recovery Practitioner. As a Dependency and Recovery Worker, you will provide psychosocial support people open to Essex Probation who are facing complex and additional needs and want to access treatment and support. You will liaise closely with Probation Practitioners to identify who would benefit from support and offer interventions within the Probation office in your quadrant. You will contribute to assessments for Alcohol Treatment Requirement (ATR), Drug Rehabilitation Requirement (DRR) and Mental Health Treatment Requirements (MHRT) in court, engaging with clients through 1-1s and interventions to comply with the order. Additionally, you will:

  • Liaise with Prisons to ensure a smooth transition into community treatment services for the clients.
  • Support Essex Probation to upskill their staff around substance and alcohol use.
  • Support people in recovery through relapse prevention and care planning.
  • Build effective working partnerships with other agencies.
    To join us as a Dependency and Recovery Worker, you will need:
  • Relevant experience of working in the field of problematic substance and alcohol use with a strong background in substance and alcohol interventions and treatment.
  • Evidence of effective partnership working and the ability to network for the benefit of the client and service.
  • Evidence of managing a busy caseload and excellent organisational skills.
  • To be proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook and Word and be familiar with relevant database management systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • The flexibility and ability to travel throughout the County of Essex.
  • Experience of working within the criminal justice setting (desirable)
  • Experience of creating person-centred care plans and/or timetables based on identified needs (desirable)
    Our Futures Together Service has approximately 30 staff based across South, North, Mid and West Essex, with Team Managers across each site and a Service Manager. This role is based primarily at Laindon Probation with nearby amenities and access by bus, car and train. Day to day, you will work alongside Essex Probation Practitioners and various teams within Phoenix Futures including Futures Together, Essex Alcohol Recovery Community and the Health and Justice Team. This is an exciting new role, secured through additional funding following successful contracts supporting adults within the criminal justice system with multiple and complex needs.
