Job summary

A recognized charity for dementia support is seeking a Group Support Volunteer in Lincoln. In this role, you will help create a friendly environment for people affected by dementia, encouraging them to engage in activities and socialise. You must have good communication skills, empathy, and be over 16 years old. The role is to support at a Dementia Cafe, helping individuals to feel comfortable and at ease.

Qualifications

  • Good verbal communication and listening skills are essential.
  • Ability to meet new people and work in a team.
  • Awareness of dementia or willingness to learn about it.
  • Demonstrates empathy and compassion.
  • Must be over the age of 16.

Responsibilities

  • Support people affected by dementia in social activities.
  • Encourage group engagement and socialisation.
  • Help set up and tidy away at the end of the group.
  • Ensure attendees feel comfortable and welcomed.
