This team plays a crucial role in advising on some of the most complex, high-profile, and mission-critical challenges within the Defence and Security sector.

Backed by deep industry insight, advanced consulting capability, and trusted client partnerships, the practice supports the Ministry of Defence and related bodies in designing and implementing impactful, technology-enabled transformation programmes.

About the Role

The consultancy is seeking an exceptional Senior Manager with proven experience leading complex consulting engagements. This individual will take ownership of major defence sector programmes involving strategic transformation, operating model redesign, performance improvement, cost optimisation, and investment decision support.

The successful candidate will be a dynamic, strategic thinker with the ability to deliver structured, evidence-based solutions underpinned by data analysis and technology. They will bring a collaborative and client-focused mindset, capable of inspiring high-performing teams while building lasting senior relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of major transformation projects using structured, best-in-class consulting methodologies
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for senior government clients, including C-suite stakeholders in the defence sector
  • Shape strategic direction and solve complex client challenges through robust qualitative and quantitative analysis
  • Drive new business by identifying opportunities, developing compelling propositions, and supporting bid activity
  • Develop team capability by mentoring colleagues, supporting career growth, and fostering a high-performance culture
  • Deliver high-impact thought leadership and contribute to knowledge sharing across the wider consulting business
  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, integrating expertise to deliver holistic, tech-enabled solutions

What You’ll Bring

  • A track record of success in a top-tier consultancy or similar high-impact environment
  • Extensive experience independently delivering complex consulting projects in areas such as:
  • Strategy and operating model transformation
  • Strategic cost reduction and efficiency
  • Business case development and investment decision support
  • Performance and operational improvement
  • Strong understanding of how emerging technologies enhance transformation outcomes
  • Advanced consulting toolkit, including data analysis, report development, presentation design, and stakeholder engagement
  • Experience leading diverse, multidisciplinary teams and managing complex delivery schedules
  • Exceptional client relationship and influencing skills, particularly at senior levels
  • A proactive approach to business development and thought leadership
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel to client locations across the UK

Security Requirements

Due to the sensitive nature of the work within Defence, candidates must be eligible and willing to undergo UK Government security clearance processes if not already holding appropriate clearance.
