Job Description:

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Commercial Trading Underwriter to join our UK wide Delegated Authority/Schemes team.

As a Technical Underwriter, you will service brokers with delegated authority for specific commercial insurance schemes, acting as the main point of contact for referrals outside the broker’s delegated authority.

This role involves working closely with brokers, assessing referrals, and maintaining a growth mindset. We seek a proven commercial underwriter with excellent communication skills, from either a broker or insurer background, passionate about career development and relationship nurturing.

Key responsibilities:

1. Handle referrals outside brokers' delegated authority with clear rationale.
2. Support Schemes Underwriting Lead and suggest improvements for system performance.
3. Maintain knowledge of scheme governance and regulatory requirements related to delegation.
4. Train and mentor less experienced colleagues.
5. Continuously develop personal skills in line with Licence to Grade requirements.

Skills and experience:

1. Proven experience in Commercial Motor and/or Commercial Property & Liability underwriting.
2. Ability to manage complex risks and mentor team members.
3. Confident in leading broker discussions to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
