Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is recruiting a Degree Apprentice Quantity Surveyor in Derby as part of our 2027 Early Careers programme. From day one you will be mentored and gain hands‑on experience in commercial management of major infrastructure projects, developing skills and earning a recognised qualification.

You will learn to manage costs, reporting, tendering, procurement and contract administration while progressing toward a Construction Quantity Surveyor (Degree) Level 6 and a professional career

• Level 6 Apprenticeship combines academic study with on‑the‑job experience in construction quantity surveying.
• Successful applicants will study toward a Construction Quantity Surveyor (Degree) Level 6.

Responsibilities

• Support the management and control of project costs throughout the project lifecycle.
• Assist with cost reporting, forecasting, valuations, and financial performance monitoring.
• Help prepare and maintain commercial records, contract documentation, and project cost information.
• Support subcontract procurement activities, including tendering and subcontract administration.
• Assist with measuring completed works and evaluating costs against budgets and targets.
• Support project reviews, commercial meetings and reporting activities.

Education

3 A Levels (or equivalent) in Maths and Science
