Job summary

ECM Selection in Cambridge seeks a Design Engineer to join the engineering team. You will work with senior engineers to turn innovative concepts into hardware prototypes and deliverables for the defence sector, in a multidisciplinary environment combining mechanical, electronics, software and physics.

The role is hands-on and onsite at multiple facilities, with potential travel to manufacturing partners. Ideal candidates have strong CAD skills and a first or 2:1 degree in mechanical,

Qualifications

• Eligible for UK security clearance for defence projects.
• Demonstrated R&D experience delivering prototypes in cross-functional teams.
• Strong CAD skills with solid theoretical engineering background.
• Experience with additive manufacturing for prototyping.
• First or 2:1 degree in mechanical, mechatronics or systems engineering from a top university.

Responsibilities

• Work hands-on in a multidisciplinary environment to take concepts to prototype and develop them into deliverable hardware.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to translate ideas into hardware for the defence sector.
• Be based onsite and optionally travel to manufacturing/assembly partners as needed.
• Support development of AI-centric ideas and related hardware products.
